Welcome to Albuquerque Food Carts!

Welcome to ABQ Food Carts, the web site all about Albuquerque’s burgeoning food cart scene.  You’ve seen them all over town – hot dog carts, taco trucks and more.  Maybe you know that there’s a group in Albuquerque that’s collaborating with chefs, foodies, and regulatory agencies to increase the variety and availability of street food in Albuquerque.  We encourage you to learn more and try tasty, affordable meals from a truck!

This purpose of this blog is to provide information about where you can find food carts, the food they serve and the chefs.  As fans of street food ourselves, we’ll let you know our favorites, and we encourage your comments.

If you want to recommend your own favorites to us, let us know who, what, when, where, and we’ll check them out.  You can contact us at info@stepsabq.org.

Albuquerque Food Carts is a project of STEPS.  We’re collaborating with vendors and regulatory agencies to streamline the process for getting food cart businesses up and running.  And we make sure that the vendors that we work with meet all City regulations for fire, food safety and business licensing.  We’ve just facilitated the opening of Albuquerque’s first food cart “pod” (a group of carts at one location – with a variety of cuisines to choose from).  Look for more details about the STEPS Food Community and Curbside Cuisine in future blogs.

I went to the opening day last week and the food was great! They need more chairs and tables to make it a great meeting place. I look forward to seeing more carts this week.

I’m looking forward to lunch today at the pod! Another yummy BBQ sandwich for my rumbling tummy followed up with one of Oz’s tasty treats… Moon pie… Brownie…

Congratulations on the launch of your blog! As Albuquerque becomes more cosmopolitan, dining from food trucks will continue to grow as a viable option. Los Angeles County has some 3,000 “taco trucks.” Surely the Duke City can support a few dozen.

As a participant of Curbside Cuisine, I want to thank everyone who came last Wednesday and visited my food truck Roxy’s Bistro on Wheels. We have a great group of trucks and ABQ really needs to get involved as Portland, LA, Austin and other great cities have done with their communities of food trucks. Grand Opening April 27th, how fun! There truly is a lot of really great food and the great company.
    Hope to see everyone!

Myself and my studio partner just checked it out. It was definitely awesome! We’ll be back every Wednesday!

For those of you who love the taste of a Sabrett Hot Dog, you no longer have to buy them from a street vendor. They’re sold at Sunflower!
